Urban in Scotland: The Itinerary & Music List

By theurb03

If you asked me over two years ago if I was interested in traveling to Scotland, I would’ve said nope. Well after two seasons of Outlander and a few books by Diana Gabaldon, I’m just days away from traveling to this small country that has claimed a piece of people’s hearts! See my itinerary below and then take a look at some song choices – What are your favorite driving songs?

Also, check out My 5 Tips to Traveling Solo post!

Will you be in Scotland? Connect with me if you are!

Wednesday April 26th: 1st day in Glasgow

Thursday April 27th – Saturday 29th: Inverness is the jump-off for a 3 day Outlander Tour with Inverness Tours!

Sunday April 30th – Tuesday May 2nd: Edinburgh and surrounding Outlander locations (Fife, Culross, Preston Mill, Midhope Castle aka Lallybroch, Blackness Castle)

Tuesday May 2nd: Drummond Castle and Gardens (aka Versailles in Season 2), Rannach Moor, Glencoe

Wednesday May 3rd – Friday May 5th: Isle of Skye (Sing me that song!)

Friday May 5th: Argyll

Saturday May 6th – Tuesday May 9th: Glasgow

*Bonus: Gaelic Consulant Àdhamh Ô Broin will be giving me a tour!

This American will be driving for half of this trip so got any tips for me? Apparently I have to be a “nice” driver as opposed to the aggressive-every-woman-for-herself-NYC-style I’m used to. Hrmph.

Driving around Scotland = Carpool Karaoke! I’ll be rocking some Madonna (she has connections with Scotland of course), Arcade Fire, Al Green & more Motown, Beck, The Kills, The Clash….

What are your favorite driving songs to sing out loud? Here are some ideas I’ve received:

All Right Now/Free,

Don’t stand so close to me/Police

No sleep til(Scotland)Brooklyn/BeastieBoys <–I’m not a Beastie Boys fan but I appreciate the creativity

Pink Cadillac/ArethaFranklin

2 tickets to Paradise/Eddie Money

Billy Joel

Mony Mony/Billy Idol

The Proclaimers (a la “I’d Walk 100 Miles”/Benny & Joon, anyone?)

Staying Alive/Bee Gees

Mull of Kintyre/Paul McCartney

I Will Survive/Gloria Gaynor

Scottish folk band Capercallie – Album “dusk till dawn” – “perfect for touring Scotland”

“Flower of Scotland”

“Scotland the Brave”

And of course…Outlander: Season 1 & 2 Soundtracks

Something from Sam Heughan’s Apple Music list from last year?

Follow my Voyage, give me some tips or music suggestions!

I may be doing this (at a stop sign of course)
